button, button - who's got the button?

ME! Thats who!
Last weekend Alice and I tried our luck at the Welfleet drive in movie theater flea market. Interesting place. Certainly an interesting place. It's mostly newer junk, but I can't hate on it because I did come home with a good arm load of junk...

But - picture this conversation...
Me: Man, I wish I could find some old dead stock button cards
Alice: Yea, that'd be really nice
..... and then 30 seconds after the words left my mouth - the table we looked at had three huge bowls full of them! And $.25 a card, Amazing! Now if only all the things I wished for would come true like that!

Oh the wellfleet drive in...

I used to buy a ton of stuff and send it back to brooklyn with Mr. Marc Jacobs picking up the fedex tab. Like big things. Chairs and rugs and stuff. Thanks MJ!

I love old buttons! There was a fabric store that I used to go into with my mom when I was little that carried deadstock button cards, patterns, fabrics and all kinds of notions from the 50's and 60's, I always loved going in there to look at everything.

Those are wonderful! Lucky you finding them! There is an itty bitty antique store near me that has a huge basket FULL of old button cards, I could spend hours sorting through them all.....

By the by,
would it be okay if I added you to the reading list on my blog?

I loooooove vintage button cards. The text on the cards is sometimes as good as the buttons themselves!

I adore vintage buttons. Those finds are amazing. They could totally improve a drab dress.. be used to make jewelry... so many possibilities!

I've been bitten by the vintage button bug lately, luckily one of the local flea markets has a resident button man who sells buttons by the bagful. :) I also love the portraits, did you buy them at the flea market too?
