the 'ol gray mare 'aint what she used to be

Forest Hills Cemetery

IMG_4996

Early Sunday morning I went to visit the Forest Hills Cemetery in JP.. I'd never been but always heard the most amazing things. I've heard it's the best thing about Boston, and I think I have to agree.

The morning was perfect. Warm with this strange eerie fog everywhere. I was immediately interested by the pond and decided to get flashy and walk about the fallen birch branches .. (I grew up on a pond, so this type of stuff used to be a piece 'o cake!)

Well, I've certainly gotten a bit older from my pond days and things didn't end pretty......
Yep! That's me, contorted face and all! Trying to pry my wet silk scarf out of my necklace, all while getting yelled at by a security guard for parking on the grass and having some strange women staring at us (I swear, the only other person in the cemetery besides us happened to be right by the pond and she saw the whole thing!)

haha aw, that is sad that you fell in. Your outfit is amazing, though! You are so stylish, even when soaking wet. And the pictures are so dreamlike

Gorgeous views and gorgeous outfit. I bet the ambience was something special, despite the sogginess afterwards :)

Wow, that setting is stunning! My boyfriend went to college in Boston and is always saying how great it is as well. Your outfit is darling, I hope you didn't ruin it!

Aw, I love the picture of you after falling :P
It's cute, and kind of funny that you fell. Not in a mean way, just comical.

You're adorable.

How courageous of you to put this embarrassing experience on your blog, with photos too! I applaud your courage and your self-confidence :) If something comparable happened to me, I would probably be in a state of denial...

Aw, you look beautiful! I haven't gotten back to Forest Hills Cemetery since one day in MAY my roomies and I tried to go for a walk and it ended up doing this cold drizzle thing. Despite falling in I hope you had a good time!

Super cute! :) I like the overall textures of the look; the clothes, the hair, perhaps even the light... All in all, the truly whimsical, even poetic feeling especially comes through in the first photos - they are beautiful.

vintage vinyl: thaank you!! It wasn't too long after we got there that I fell in... I was wishing we could take more photos, but definitely another time!

stitches & threads: it really was amazing there! I keep thinking back on that morning about how wonderful the atmosphere was!

lady smaggle: oh, it's really alright that I fell in, it makes for such a silly story!

pretty pirate: you both should come back for a visit!! the cemetery is great and so is the arboretum and well, there's so many other places too! And, I was worried too! But the outfit is perfectly fine

Anastasia: I completely agree!

Lydia: I like the post fall photo best! I have the craziest look on my face!! Such a silly/dweeby thing to have happen!!

elsie wright: so true! I didn't even think about that! I suppose if it were winter though the pond might be frozen over! But even still, I can't imagine falling in if it were any colder!!

sleepyhead: thank you! I think that color is my favorite to wear right now!!

ashleigh: I call this hairstyle the rats nest and it's my favorite for summer!! hehe, I basically just pile it all on top of my head and then put it into a pony tail and pin bits of it down here and there!

nicole: go back!!! it's lovely!!

outi: thank you so, so much!!

sharon: got it! thanks for letting me know, I don't check that email often! This sounds so exciting!!! Check your email soon!

These is no better outfit to fall into a pond with, don't you agree! I bet that bathing suit has been sitting in someone's wardrobe for a lifetime, just longing for a good ol' dip in a lovely pond. x
