Number three, "Coaching Day", is just brilliant! Nice that they're all the same style - postcards?

These images came from a very old book called Prize Painting Book: Good Times. I think it was published back in 1881 and it actually was a water color painting book! It came with 8 example color illustrations and 30 line drawings. The idea was that the color illustrations would act as a guide for the owner to paint in the 30 line drawings themselves and to hopefully submit to a painting contest that was judged by some of the best female painters of the time. The copy I stumbled across (although I can't call it my own) has the very best colored illustrations (many of those paintings I like better then the printed ones! But, I love imagining what the other versions look like!!! I've found a few copies for sale on the internet, but I don't think any of them have all 30 colored in.

Lovely :) I get so much of my inspiration from old children's book illustrations, and it's great to see you do too.
