3 Days

My house

It's quarter to 10 in the morning' and I have to admit I'm still in bed and feeling so, so guilty about it. I have a scary long to do list today, but instead of chipping away at it I'm looking around my almost empty room and realizing I have only 3 days left in this house I've lived in for 3 years. A really important 3 years.

Please don't get me wrong. I'm excited for San Francisco... but there's certain things about this house I'm going to miss that just can't be replaced. Like my next door neighbor's flower garden, and their friendly orange cat Ella who meows at any sign of people walking by and does flips if you happen to stop and pet her. And I'll miss being able to hang all my old dresses on Alice's porch to dry in the sun after a handwashing. And being able to run downstairs and talk to Alice whenever I want, and hearing her knock on my door to come in and chat whenever she wants. And all those silly little things you might take for granted when you live just a staircase above your best friend.

These pictures are really gorgeous, the house, the dress, everything! Good luck in San Fran! What are you going to be doing there?

ohh, thank you!!

I'm going to eventually be going back to school. And hopefully in the mean time find myself a shop girl at a cute store or two. And most important, finally saying goodbye to long distance love! (my boyfriend moved back out there a while ago and it's been really hard jumping back and forth between coasts)

Good luck in San Francisco! I was in Boston yesterday and thought of your blog.
You always have the best photographs/clothes/everything :D

The yellow dress is lovely and you do have a lovely house! Take more photos these few days and bring along these lovely memories to your new home. :)

ah, that sounds bittersweet. now, you'll be swapping one long distance love for another, but there's lots of ways to stay close to your best friend aren't there?

good luck with the move!

this post hit so close to home! My roommate/best friend of 12 years recently moved in with her boyfriend, putting (a very friendly) end to our roommate-dom!
While I'm incredibly excited to be living with my sister this Fall, it's so strange that I will have to call her to see her!
I can only imagine what moving across the country will be like! good luck dear, I'm sure that orange minou will wait for you to visit!
you look stunning!

I had no Idea you were coming to my city! You will love it here in SF, it's so amazing. Summer has just arrived, it's going to be 90 degrees today. I'm not sure we are prepared for that. Let me know if you have any questions or need someone to show you around, good luck with the moving! Your old big house is amazing, it must really be bitter sweet but change is good!!

The way you wrote that makes me sad, too! But I'm really happy for you. San Francisco is a magnificent city-- I live there, too!

And these pictures are so, so beautiful!

I live in San Francisco! I love it here. It is an amazing, amazing city. With a house like yours though, I can see why it would be hard to leave.

I've got about a week left in my house of 3 years, which I've lived in with my best friend, so I definitely know how you feel! It's amazing just how much stuff and memories you accumulate over that time too...

Still, there's always new adventures to be had, and I'm sure once we're both settled in our new homes we'll be even happier than we were before. (Or here's hoping at least!)

Good luck with the move :)

Completely understand. I've always been terribly attached to the places I've lived in. It is a chapter closing, but I am sure there are bigger and better things in San Francisco. Best Wishes!

I hope your move to San Fran goes well. I'm happy that your long distance love is almost over!

And remember that you'll have very sweet memories to look back on. Make sure to give your friend Alice a bone-crushing hug and take plenty of pictures. :}

By all of these comments it sounds like you'll have lots of people to meet in SF!

Moving can be so hard. I just moved from ME to MD and as much as I wanted to move leaving my old stomping grounds made me so sad. It's wonderful you'll be with your bf, even if you have to leave your bff. Good luck with everything!

Love that dress to pieces, btw :o)

Aw sweetie, this post brought tears to my eyes.
I remember being absolutely sick when it got down to the last few days before my big move. It's a hard thing, moving across the country, but think of the new adventures you'll have!

Leaving such a pretty house and your bf would be hard BUT well done you. Going back to study - I'm impressed. Combining job, boy f and school will be a hard one but stay in there. You won't regret it.

I understand you miss all that. The parts of the house you have shown in the blog are gorgeous. Anyway you won't loose all those sensations and I'm sure in San Francisco you will find new memories. Good luck!

This nearly made me shed a tear. Such a simple post really, and such a common experience, moving out of a house...but you made it reach out and grab me. Lovely photos, the house picture and the yellow dress picture. I'm really happy you shared this with the world.

Well, shucks, I thought I already commented on this! That dress really is the loveliest...I love everything you did with it! And the sunflowersss!! I just saw some mutant sunflowers that were bigger than a tree (not really, but it seemed like it) and well, now whenever I see sunflowers now I think of them and they make me smile. Ahhh the corny-ness...I can't escape it. Anywho, yer cute!!!

I know that feeling. I moved away from my undergrad town where I lived for 3 years last summer, and I was completely homesick for at least half a year... missing my roommates and all the other friends so much... But I must tell you that the Bay Area is definitely a great place to live!

Greetings,
poet
