Lafayette House

Right now I'm in New York City laying on the most comfortable bed in existence with a Henry Darger drawing hanging above my head! I'd say this is the perfect way to spend one's last day of being 21!

Lafayette House is the most perfect hotel I've ever been too (sorry Copley Fairmont, you've been bumped to second place) and I can't wait to share photos! But, right now we're leaving for dinner at Freeman's... I've been sneakily looking at pictures of the restaurant on-line and all I have to say is: taxidermy!! eeee! I can't wait!

P.S. as I was typing this post I looked up and realized how high the ceilings are in here... I just couldn't help myself!

Wow it looks so amazing. I'd kill for a bedroom like that! It's expensive to stay there, yes?

I saw a henry Darger exhibit in seattle about 2 years ago, it was amazing. I didn't know anything about him until I was there, he had a interesting life. I later found out that my boyfriends parents used to see him from time to time in Chicago. I love his stuff now, thats a great piece. Cute bed too!! Happy Birthday

Henry Darger? For reals? Amazing! Have you seen the Realms of the Unreal documentary on him? The narrator had the creepiest child-like voice, but it's such an interesting story!

thanks so much again everyone!!

pretty pirate: we were planning on going to the folk art museum in Manhattan but we ran out of time, it was good luck though because a little piece of what I wanted to see was right in our hotel! That's insanely cool about your boyfriend's parents. How did they know it was him? I wonder what he was like in real life!

laurakitty: Freeman's was wonderful!!! the dessert! and my mint julep came in the most perfect metal tumbler!!

-lani-artrabbit-ish- thank you sooo much! that's insanely sweet to say!

april: henry darger for reals!! I only sort of saw the documentary! It creeped me out so much (the narrator's voice!) that I fell asleep! I want to read his book though!!!!!
