A few different things from the past few weeks...... A ruffly cotton voille 30's dress with a pretty houndstooth-esque printed skirt. I wore it around on Halloween day, the weather was so perfect I didn't even need a sweater! I sort of gave up on shopping for myself and have just been sneakily taking a dress or two from the ones I find for the shop, this is one of them!

I've never seen this movie, but it looks so great! That little girl has the best autumn/winter clothing! And her hair! The cloth ribbon thing definitely looks much better on her and not so great with bangs.

And a gigantic 60s carpet suitcase I found at an estate sale. I once saw a similar bag at a store in Manhattan that was around $700 and it's haunted me ever since. Three years later I finally found one for what seems like chump change compared to the Manhattan price!

Two of my favorite prints in the Libris Lunaria shop ... from a British mycology book... There's 5 plates from that book in the shop and I think I have to add more, they're just so great!

  4. The cloth-in-hair is so pretty. I have all these antique textile scraps lying around; this is a perfect excuse not to throw them out. I used to love The Secret of Roan Inish when I was little, though I haven't seen it in years; seals were my favorite animal back then so I was a little obsessed with it actually.

Oh! and thank you for sharing that "False Memory Syndrome" song yesterday, by the way... it's really exactly what I'd expect to hear in a splendid abandoned ballroom. Haunting but so beautiful!

  11. Yes! The girl in that move has been a style inspiration for me for years! I even took screen shots with the future plan of recreating her colorful fairisle sweater.....

  12. I actually own this movie on DVD and watch it regularly. It is the most charming story, and the little girl in it ROCKS! I deeply covet her little fair-isle sweaters and vintage dresses. You actually look a lot like her!

  18. I love the ribbon in your hair! It reminds me of when I was little and had just read Little Women for the first time. You know how Amy ties her hair up with cloth every night to make her hair curly? I did it every night for a month!
I love visiting your blog-everything is just so charming!

  27. The Secret of Roan Inish is an odd story but it is really pretty too. There is a character named Patience in which I named my dog after from that film.

I love the skirt you are waering in the first photo.
