Wrapped up In Books - The Frolics of the Fruits and Vegetables
Here we have the last of it - Elizabeth Gordon's Mother Earth's Children; The Frolics of the Fruits and Vegetables, published in 1914. Here are some of my favorites, but make sure you take a peek at that link! Too many funny/cute little anthropomorphic edibles!
These are so wonderful. I'm definitely saving them for halloween inspirations. Check out my Etsy store, I think you'd really like it! http://www.etsy.com/shop/latenightaew
absolutely darling! the misses carrot and sugar cane are my favorite; while miss cucumber is a little.. well, it's alright, i suppose it's a bit more difficult to cute-fy a pickle than it is some garlic ;-)
I saw these on your Flickr yesterday and nearly died with delight! I love super-whimsical, slightly silly illustrations like these. Amazing!!! I'm in love with the little garlic girl especially... (Maybe because I cook with so much garlic?!) ;) Thanks for sharing these, Francesca!
I love how horseradish looks like she's chastising brussel sprout!! I love the style of a lot of the clothes you posted on etsy. Check out my etsy page: http://www.etsy.com/shop/isavirtue
I just entered a contest to try and win a walk-on part in an episode of the show "Mad Men". Please come to my blog and vote for me. I need loads of votes to catch up to people who already posted their picture, so get your friends to come and vote too!
I really really love these! I love anything that has to do with vegetable and cooking in general. I love look at them, cook and eat them too! simply adorable!
You should google up Elsa Beskow, a Swedish illustrator (worked during the late 1800s) whose books every Scandinavian kid know. She has some similar figures of flowers and fruits!
