I try to block out as much as I can about my junior high memories. I'll skip the particulars because I'm sure we've all had similar experiences... But, there is one thing I remember about my 8th grade biology class that's always haunted me. I don't even remember my teacher's name (which worries me as my memory is slowly starting to slip at the old age of 22...) But he told us about one summer in New England where it rained every. single. day. He said there was not one day of sunshine the entire summer vacation and that thought has always made me so sad. Summers here are usually a mix of heat waves and afternoon thunder storms but I'm starting to think that wives tale is about to come true this summer.
For real Mama Nature, what's going on here? I'm about to build a boat and float off to sunnier places if this keeps up!
Anyway, I thought I'd share some photos that my dear ol pal Jeff took in March (or at least I think it was March). I think I was feeling particularly inspired by this lovely lady and this is what turned up!

here in sweden the summer has not yet been seen :( cold so cold. my mum told me about the summer of 84 i think, it was so cold all summer long that they all wore helly hansen clothes...
my bad memory started when i was like 12, but the last few years it's gotten worse. i've now begun to forget peoples birthdays, and i've always remembered them!
i love the contrast in these photos you're almost silouhetted!
Oh I love your outfit! The tan cardigan goes so well with your skirt and shoes. Is your umbrella/parasol black lace?
Amazing photos!
These pictures are beautiful! You are beautiful!
great photos! I'm sending you some sun from California...should be there any day now. :)
These are such amazing photos! Everything about is so perfect - the umbrella, the gray skies, the neutrals of your outfit (love the shoes, the coat, bah, everything).
I hope the summer weather improves where you are at! Right now, the Bay Area is pretty hot and I can't stand it. I'd kill for some rain.
the shape of that umbrella is just about the best thing i've ever seen. i seem to remember seeing these before? either way you're looking fantastic! I hope the weather gets sunnier!
I think I've blocked the years of when I was 14 - 18 from memory, since only a handful of (icky) memories persist. Shudder.
Anyway, have a lovely weekend!
Oh so sweet, you are the cutest blond gypsy ever.
And holy smokes! How did you find that link? I assumed it would be buried forever under millions of blog posts and no one would ever see it!
How I long for summer, with it's heat waves and thunder storms. It a dull-skied winter on my side of the world. and i hate it so. wah. wah. wah.
Super lovely photos you got here, lady. Make me feel a little better about the cooler weather.
Loving your blog. Maybe someday you'll take a peek at mine.
These photos are so gorgeous and inspiring! And your figure makes me think of beautiful stylistic drawings, lol :) (I hope you know, I mean that in the best of ways)
Your poor teacher, indeed :(
Oh it's the same in new york! It hasn't been properly sunny in days, maybe weeks. I love these photos, though! Such beautiful use of light.
Hope you see sunshine soon, dear!

Jess.
love these pictures! it's been gorgeous in vancouver!
trisch xo
That second pic is too beautiful.
We've been having a very rainy summer here in Pennsylvania, too =(. As much as I love falling asleep to the sound of rain, I would also love taking late-night walks in the summer wind, without getting saturated!
Those photos are so very lovely, and that umbrella is so unique!
So neat! I always love your pictures! Here in Oregon it rains alot(all the time)even when it's sunny....But I don't really mind!
i am crossing my fingers that this monsoon ends before summer is over. my dog is going nuts! those pictures are so beautiful. black and nude are such a great color combo.
Stunning Photos! I love the colors
Oh my goodness! It's been the same here in Ohio..so dreary, not like summer at all! And don't feel too bad, I'm 21 and the other day I was trying to think of my 10th grade math teacher's name and couldn't remember...I think our minds are just getting filled to the brim with other important things. Like which pretty sundress to wear on the perfect summer picnic, weather permitting! I absolutely love your photos too- they're haunting in a romantic/beautiful way :)
thank you so much for all the sweet words! I'll be sure to pass the kindness along to Jeff next time I see him!
Betty Lou: 1984 sounds like a positively atrocious year! Helly Hansen clothes are what you wear in the dead of winter, not summer!! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with a slipping memory! 12?! I can only remember a handful of birthdays - it depends on the day and the month! I'm better at remembering birthdays in the Fall/Winter - but Spring/Summer birthdays, forget it!!
Wandering Writer: the umbrella is cloth with stripes of (and forgive me for my lack of terminology) rouched fabric - it's beautiful, but the structure of the umbrella has fallen apart - but I think I want to construct a bag out of the material!! Oh, and I like your icon!
isabel: thank you m'dear!
Diane and Tahda: I don't know what it is, each time I go to California the weather is terrible! I think the grey clouds are just following me!!
Meaghan: Oh, yes - you're right! They were on my flickr! But I never posted them here. I don't think everyone who looks at my blog looks at my flickr, so here they are! I still owe you an etsy message!
Amy: I found it so easily! I just went into your posts from March and then there it was!! Thank you for having your blog organized so nicely!
love again: awh, thanks so much! I'm off to take a peek at your blog as soon as I'm done typing this!
